Mittelherwigsdorf is a municipality in the district Görlitz, Saxony.

Geography

The 7.5 km long Waldhufendorf is located about 3 kilometers northwest of Zittau on the Mandau in the field of Zittau and Oderwitz pool. Arched it is composed of upper Herwigsdorf ( Oberndorf ), Mittelherwigsdorf (Middle Village ) and the disc. The districts Oberseifersdorf and Eckart Berg ( Northern) east of it, and the district Radgendorf in turn lies to the east of Eckartsberg.

Surrounding municipalities are Herrnhut ( district Großhennersdorf ) in the north, Zittau from north-east to south, Bert Village Hoernitz and Hainewalde in the southwest, and the Oder joke in the West.

The Federal Highway 96 cuts on their way from or joke to Zittau the means village and continue south of it to the road of Spitzkunnersdorf State Road 139, which is tangent to the settlement area of Mittelherwigsdorf. Once completed, the light coming from the Federal Highway 4 and leading on Lobau federal highway will cut 178 Oberdorf and open out between Oberseifersdorf and Eckartsberg into the existing North eastern bypass of the Zittau downtown, the State Road 99 crosses and leads up to the border crossing Zittau - Sieniawka.

History

For the first time mentioned historically in 1312, the site originally consisted of three parts, ( called bed Sindelsdorf 1410 and incorporated in 1974 ) Upper Herwigsdorf, called the disc, a 1359 already mentioned knight's seat and the actual parish seat Herwigsdorf with independent local judges. As a result of the Reformation Cölestinermönche on the Oybin were forced to the place they were able to bring in the 15th century in their possession, for sale by and by to the city of Zittau. Until then mainly dominated by agriculture, developed more and more, the craft of weaving, making the today well-known local picture was taken with many densely built Umgebindehäusern.

In GDR times, built the VEB oil processing plant in Schwedt a children's summer camp for the children of his company employees.

The community maintains a 3 km long barefoot path ( entrance from the street to the Schenk Schanzenberg ).

Partner communities

The community Mittelherwigsdorf has two community partnerships in Baden- Württemberg, which were closed by the Vorgängermeinden 1991. The former municipality Eckartsberg entered into a partnership with the community Oberdischingen, and Mittelherwigsdorf entered into a partnership with nine churches in a swim.

Culture and sights

  • The culture factory at Meda Mittelherwigsdorf station has a movie theater and regularly organizes workshops. It operates a research wetland in cooperation with the International Graduate School Zittau.

The Mittelherwigsdorf railway station is on the railway line Zittau - Lobau and the railway line Mittelherwigsdorf - Varnsdorf - Eibau.
