Geography

Geographical location

Mittenaar is the Hörre, a heavily wooded and to 445 m high ridge and sub ​​- natural area of Gladenbacher mountain country.

Extent of the area

In 3518 ha more than 5,000 people. Around 45 km of roads connecting the villages. The proportion of forest in the district amounts to over 50%.

History

The municipality was created Mittenaar at 31 December 1971 through the merger of previously independent municipalities Ballersbach, Bickenbach and Offenbach. Beller village was incorporated on April 1, 1972.

Mayor

On September 22, 2013, the mayoral election was held in which Markus Deusing (SPD ) has prevailed among a total of seven candidates with 52.1 % of votes. On October 22, he succeeds by Gerrit Klingelhöfer, who resigned after only four weeks of his tenure mayors due to infidelity allegations.

Coat of arms

Description: In black a golden (yellow ) left oblique wave beams above accompanied by a golden ( yellow ) leaf clover. Below, two silver bars. The coat of arms shows in addition to the wave beam as a symbol for the municipality by flowing Aar, two coats of arms symbols former aristocratic families who were wealthy in the municipality: the shamrock for the men of Dernbach ( Alt Dernbach = Herborn - Seelbach ) and the two beams of the Lords of Bickenbach (see above).

Music

The youth choir " Young Voices Mittenaar " was launched in January 2000 by an initiative of three choirs, MGV 1861 Ballersbach, GV Sängervereinigung 1860 Bickenbach and GV Eintracht Offenbach, to life. The repertoire includes spirituals, gospel songs, evergreens and modern pieces (such as Dancing Queen, YMCA, Wade in the water, bridge over troubled water, etc.).
