Mittersheim

Mittersheim is a commune of 600 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Sarrebourg and Canton Fénétrange.

Geography

Mitter home located about 16 kilometers northwest of Sarrebourg the Saar channel at an altitude 221-272 m above sea level. The north-east and the south of the 16.77 km ² of the municipal area are part of the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine.

The town lies on the north bank of the Grand Etang de Mittersheim ( Mittersheim Big Pond ), which is also called Lac Vert. On the northern boundary of the parish is the hamlet of Pont- Neuf ( Neubrückenstraße ), otherwise there is the municipality mostly of forest ( Forêt de Fénétrange ).

History

By the year 1766 the town belonged to the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation. Then he came to France, from 1871 to 1918 to the German Empire since 1919 and back to France.
