Mix Master Mike

Mix Master Mike ( born April 4, 1970 in Daly City, California; bourgeois Michael Schwartz ) is a DJ from San Francisco, USA. He was the first to three world championship titles as a DJ.

Biography

Born and raised Mix Master Mike in San Francisco. In his home environment, there were several record collector who introduced him to different styles of music and brought closer. Most of it was 1970s radio.

1984, at the age of 14, he first came into contact with hip-hop. Mike got himself two old cassette players and speakers from the old storage room of his uncle. He tried to play different songs in sync with each other. He used the pause button to slow down the pace. At that time he saw on TV the appearance of a certain Grandmaster DXT. This played with turntables and Mike first saw someone scratch. From then on, Mike wanted to be " DJ Scratch ".

Mike has appeared at various small parties and was introduced to a certain Richard Quitevis at one of these celebrations. Richard was impressed by Mike's " scratching" and visited him the next day to techniques and tricks to learn from him. Richard Quitevis was himself a DJ and took the name DJ QBert.

At this time Mike was his mother's care too much and he cut off from home, to join a group of DJs in Sacramento. There he learned that QBert many people with his DJ arts impressed - he also heard from a DJ Battle in the school cafeteria. Mike participated. The duel between Mix Master Mike and QBert is now considered a legendary moment of hip-hop history. Mike won, but in the rematch won QBert.

Mike and QBert were constantly in direct competition with each other, but did not want to continue this and decided, as a team continue to occur: as a kind of " DJ Scratch Band". In 1991, the participation began in major competitions. Mix Master Mike won in 1992 as the first DJ from the West Coast of the Supermen Battle for World Supremacy in New York City. That same year, Mix Master Mike, QBert and DJ Apollo participated in the DMC World Cup and won the final in London. 1993 Mike and defended the title successfully QBert for two. DMC called the concert later the greatest Scratch Set in the history of mankind.

1994 received a call from Mike and QBert DMC and were asked to refrain from participating in the World Cup to give a chance to other DJs. Instead, they were offered to be jury members.

In 1998, Mix Master Mike contact with the Beastie Boys on, talked and scratchte them on the answering machine and was hired for the album Hello Nasty and the subsequent tour. In 1999 he was a member of Methods of Mayhem, which were launched by Tommy Lee.
