Mixtec ( tu'un savi, tuʔũ savi ) is an indigenous language in Mexico and a close group of related languages ​​, spoken by the ethnicity of the Mixtecs. They belong together with the languages ​​Cuicateco, Triqui and Amuzgo to a branch of the eastern Otomangue languages ​​belonging to turn language family of Otomangue languages ​​( along with Otomí, Chinantekisch, Popoloca, Tlapanekisch and Zapotec ).

Mixtec is spoken by about 450,000 people, especially in the states of Oaxaca and Guerrero. Due to the geographical fragmentation of the language area, there are widely differing regional variants. SIL International divides the Mixtec in over 30 individual languages ​​. The National Institute of Indigenous Languages ​​(Instituto Nacional de Lenguas indigenous, ALI ) speaks of 81 regional variations.
