The Miyako language (self- designation: / mja ː kufucy / ,ミャークフツMyāku - futsu; jap宫 古 方言Miyako- Hōgen " Miyako dialect " ) belongs to the Ryukyu languages ​​and is spoken in the Miyako Islands in the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa.

Born on Miyako -jima singer Isamu Shimoji (下地 勇) sings almost exclusively in the Miyako language. The accompanying his albums booklets contain both sung in the Miyako- language texts and their translations into standard Japanese.
