Mizhhirya

Mischhirja (Ukrainian Міжгір'я; Russian Межгорье / Meschgorje, Hungarian Ökörmező, Slovak Volove ) is the name of an urban-type settlement in the Transcarpathian Oblast in western Ukraine. The Karpatenort lies to the east of the district capital of Uzhhorod at Rika, a tributary of the Tisza, and is the administrative center of Rajons Mischhirja.

In 1415 the place is first mentioned in writing as Ukurmezew until 1953, he was named Volove poles (Ukrainian Волове Поле ), the Hungarian name Ökörmező is the corresponding translation and in German means " Ochsenwiese ".

In the village there is a Greek Catholic church from the 19th century.
