Mizraim

Mizraim (Hebrew מצרים Mitzrayim or Miṣrāyim / Miṣráyim; cf. Arabic مصر Miṣr ) is the Hebrew name for Egypt, with the dual ending- Ayim, perhaps with reference to the " two- Egypt ", Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt.

After the table of nations in Genesis, are personified in the country name, Mizraim also refers to a person (Gen 10:6). According to this genealogy Mizraim was one of the sons of Ham, who is said to have survived his hand with his father Noah and his brothers Shem and Japheth in the ark the flood. Mizraim was the brother of Kush, which forms the Hamitic branch of the descendants of Noah along with Put, and Canaan.

Reception

In the irregular Freemasonry of Memphis - Mizraim - Rite is based on the idea that over Mizraim an antediluvian divine knowledge in Egypt had been handed down.
