Mmabatho

Province

Mmabatho ( Setswana; German: "Mother of the People" ) was erected as the capital of the homelands Bophuthatswana. After the end of apartheid and the reintegration Bophuthatswanas in South Africa on 27 April 1994 Mmabatho was with the neighboring town of Mafikeng (now Mahikeng ) together, which forms since then the capital of the newly created North West Province. Mmabatho has about 38 297 inhabitants (as of 2011).

Traffic

The Mmabatho International Airport was renamed Mafikeng Airport. By Mmabatho the national road N18 runs.
