The MMArena is a football stadium in Le Mans in Sarthe, France. It is since January 29, 2011 the home of Le Mans FC, who competes currently in the Division d'Honneur (6th Division). The MMArena is the first French stadium, whose naming rights were sold to a sponsor. The insurance company Mutuelles du Mans Assurances first pays a set fee of 3 million Euros per year and then 1 million euros over a period of ten years.
History
The former football club Le Mans UC 72 increased in 2005 in the Ligue 1. In order for a new stadium in Le Mans was necessary because the old Venue Stade Léon- Bollee was already over 100 years old (opened in 1906); it no longer met modern requirements and also due to lack of space could not be extended. Beginning of 2006, the architect Bernard Huet his draft to the public. The stadium project provided for a capacity of 25,000 seats for football operations. In addition, the stadium will seat up to 40,000 spectators for concerts. Besides football and rugby games could be played. The southern part of the roof is transparent so that the natural turf of the playing field can get more sunlight. Into the stadium, a hotel is integrated.
The MMArena is at Complexe de Sud Mulsanne, adjacent to the multi-purpose hall Antares, in playing the basketball team Le Mans Sarthe Basket.
