Mohamed "Mo" Farah, CBE ( born March 23, 1983 in Mogadishu, Somalia ) is a British athlete. The long-distance runner was 2012 Double Olympic champion in the 5,000 m and 10,000 m, also he was a total of three times world champion on the track.

Sports career

Mo Farah attended Feltham Community College, where his talent was recognized by his physical education teacher Alan Watkinson. Farah excelled in football and javelin, but soon it became obvious that his real talent was running. Five years in a row he was English schoolmaster in cross-country running, and he was in the discipline of European Junior Vice- Champion 2001.

His breakthrough was the long distance runner in the 2006 season, when he ran the 5000 meters in 13:09,40 min and thus in the British time list took second place behind David Moorcroft. A month later, he won over this distance silver at the European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg, and at the end of the season he was at the European Cross Country Championships in San Giorgio su Legnano European masters.

In 2007, he was sixth in the 5000 meters World Athletics Championships in Osaka. At the IAAF World Indoor Athletics Championships 2008 in Valencia, he finished sixth in the 3000 - meter race at the Olympic Games in Beijing, he retired however in the run over 5000 meters.

In the winter he was then in top form. In December 2008 he won at the European Cross Country Championships in Brussels, silver, in February 2009, he set a British indoor record over 3000 meters at the Steve Cram " best performance of a male British long distance runner for a generation " referred to as the, and in March he was European Indoor champion over the same distance.

At the World Championships in Berlin, he was seventh over 5000 meters. Two months later he won the Great South Run over ten miles in 46:25 minutes, making it the third fastest Briton of all time over this distance. End of the season, another silver medal followed at the European Cross Country Championships in Dublin. At the European Championships 2010 in Barcelona, he won as a favorite in the 10,000 meters. Four days later he was able to win the 5000 -meter run.

In 2011, he triumphed at the New York City Half Marathon and improved at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene (USA) the European record in the 10,000 meters by over five seconds to 26:46,57 min. At the World Championships in Daegu, he won the silver medal in the 10,000 meters and the gold medal in the 5000 meters. In 2012 he was at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul fourth over 3000 meters and defended at the European Championships in Helsinki his title over 5000 meters. At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, he won the 5000m and 10,000 m gold medal. His finish was the starting point of the Internet phenomenon Mo Farah Running Away From Things.

On July 19, 2013 at the Diamond League meeting Farah improved in Monaco over 1500 meters second behind Asbel Kiprop 16-year- old European record of the Spaniard Fermin Cacho on 3:28,81 min. A week later, he presented with 7:36,85 min in London a new personal best on the 3000 -meter distance on.

Farah lives in Twickenham and has been for years coached by Alan Storey. He starts for the Newham & Essex Beagles.

Family

Mohamed Farah was born on March 23, 1983 in Mogadishu, capital of Somalia. When he was eight years old, the parents decided to send him and two older brothers to England, where his father was already living. Thus he was separated from his twin brother Hassan, who still lives in Somalia. About Djibouti, the three teenagers in 1993 came to London.

In August 2012, Mo Farah father of twin girls. His wife Tania, whom he had married in 2010, brought another daughter in the relationship.

Trivia

On July 14th, 2012 Farah became the first candidate 250,000 British Pounds in the game show The Cube. The money to get the Mo Farah Foundation founded by him.

Much like Usain Bolt Farah has developed its own pose, the so-called Mobot, in which the fingers of both hands are placed by the side of the head, thus forming an imaginary M. To promote his foundation, from a dance was developed.
