Slider is a commonly used term for mobile telephones, in which the upper and lower housing halves are displaceable relative to one another. When closed, the display only, the navigation buttons, the buttons for answering and ending of the conversation and the menu buttons are visible in general. The keyboard is only after pushing up the upper half of the housing to light. This method can, similar to a flip phone, a comparatively large display are housed very space-saving. In addition, there is no need for two designs, a key lock, since the number keys are hidden when closed and can not be pressed accidentally.

One of the first slider phones was the SL 10 by Siemens from the year 1998.
