Mobility management#TMSI

The Temporary Mobile Subscriber Identity ( TMSI ) is the local and limited number of a subscriber within a location area that is used instead of the IMSI for the connection. This measure was introduced to discourage the creation of movement profiles, and thus protects the anonymity of the participants. The TMSI is encrypted and a change during the connection is also possible ( ID hopping ).
