Mock trial have so far mainly common in the English-speaking simulated, fictitious court proceedings for educational or training purposes, which should correspond to a real situation as much as possible, including prosecution, defense, pleadings, lawyers, judges, witnesses, expert opinions and judgment.

Mock trials found in the United States at many levels of education, often in a competitive manner, instead of (eg elementary school, middle school, high school, university, Faculty of Law ), where practical, practice and understanding of procedural problems and the acquisition of basic skills in their professional practice are in the foreground.
