Mocoa is a city and municipality in the southwestern Colombia near the border with Ecuador. It is located about 500 km south-west of Bogota and 80 km east of the city of Pasto in neighboring coastal province of Nariño.

Mocoa is the provincial capital of the department of Putumayo and is located in the densely populated western part, on the eastern slopes of the Cordillera real close to the Río Caquetá. The municipality has an area of about 1263 km ² and 35,755 inhabitants.
