Modern English (band)

Modern English is an English rock band.

They were best known for the songs " I Melt with You ", " Hands Across the Sea" and " Ink and Paper ". The band broke up in 1991, but was released in 1995 with new band members.

The band was formed in Colchester, Essex, England, in 1979 by Robbie Grey ( vocals), Gary McDowell (guitar, vocals ) and Michael Conroy ( bass, vocals ).

Modern English were originally known as The Lepers. Later, Richard Brown (drums) and Stephen Walker, the band members were added.

The album After The Snow that April 1982 was published, sold reached the Billboard charts, and was 500,000 times square 70. The second single "I Melt With You" reached number 78

The single " I Melt With You" was also voted number 39 of VH1's 100 greatest songs of the 80's and # 7 on the VH1's 100 Greatest One Hit Wonders of the 80s. Cover of the song have appeared in the films 50 First Dates and Not Another Teen Movie to hear.
