Modinha

The Modinha is a sentimental and lyrical Brazilian song, which was built around 1750 in an urban environment. It has its origins in a popular song form of imperial Brazil. The Modinha has clearly courtly influences of the 18th century and often developed into children's and lullabies. Typical accompanying instrument is the Brazilian guitar Violão or more recently the piano.
