Modus Operandi

The term modus operandi (Latin for " way of acting " or " way of performing ") is a Latin phrase that denotes a manner of action and inaction.

Criminology

Modus operandi called in forensics the behavior of an offender, in particular, requires the methods of the perpetrators to the successful realization of the facts or to darken his act. Although it is of great importance for the criminal tactics, based the " mode operandi system" on theoretical assumptions. ( see also Criminal Profile )

Sociology

In sociology, the mode operandi in the habitus concept according to Bourdieu, a central point. According to Pierre Bourdieu the habitus in socialization has a dual function in that it generates forms of practice ( " modus operandi " ) and as a form of practice appears ( " mode operatum "). The " modus operandi " produce both forms of practice as well as perception, valuation and thought patterns, which are empirically analyzed as finished products, the "Opus operatum ".
