Moehringia

The navel Mieren ( Moehringia ) are a genus of flowering plants of the carnation family ( Caryophyllaceae ). It belongs to the subfamily of Alsinoideae and in the tribe of Alsineae.
The scientific genus name commemorates the German physician and naturalist Paul Heinrich Gerhard Möhring.
Features
The species of this genus are mostly relatively delicate herbaceous plants that can be quite different in habit.
You are annual to perennial, often race - or cushion- forming, with erect, distinguished or hanging stems. The leaves are linear or fädlich to almost round. The flowers are hermaphroditic and are available individually or in loose, andständigen cymes. The four or five sepals are erect, herbaceous and usually more or less hautrandig. The flowers have four or five white petals that are rounded at the tip or pointed, but not emarginate or two columns. There are eight or ten stamens present. The ovary is ovoid or spherical, the number of the pen is 2 or 3, rarely 4 or 1 The fruit is a capsule that opens with four to six flaps. These flaps are bent or rolled back to the outside. There are only a few seeds per capsule. The seeds are reddish brown to black, smooth and shiny and wear at the navel often a white appendage.

Occurrence
The navel Mieren are especially common in the temperate regions of Europe and western Asia to Arctic regions. Most species occur in mountains, and in locations with more moist and humus rich soil.

- Grey-green Sandwort ( Moehringia glaucovirens Bertol. ): It is endemic to the Italian Southern Alps
- Moehringia glochidisperma JM Monts. -Marti: It occurs in Morocco
- Moehringia grisebachii Janka: It occurs only in southeastern Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, European Turkey )
- Moehringia hypanica Grynj & Klokov: It occurs in the Ukraine
- Insubric Sandwort ( Moehringia Insubrica sword ): It is endemic to the Alps Brescia in northern Italy
- Mean Sandwort ( Moehringia intermedia ( Loisel. ) Panizzi ): It occurs in France
- Moehringia jankae Janka: It occurs only in Romania and Bulgaria
- Moehringia lateriflora (L.) Fenzl: It occurs in north-eastern Europe, Asia and North America
- Lebrun Sandwort ( Moehringia lebrunii Merxm. ): It is an endemic of the Maritime Alps (France and Italy)
- Markgraf Sandwort ( Moehringia markgrafii Merxm & Good man. ): It is an endemic of the Alps Brescia in northern Italy
- Moehringia minutiflora Bornm. It occurs only in Macedonia
- Moss Sandwort ( Moehringia muscosa L.)
- Moehringia papulosa Bertol. It is endemic to the Apennines
- Moehringia pendula ( Waldst. & Kit. ) Fenzl: It occurs only in southeastern Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece)
- Moehringia pentandra J. Gay: It comes in Southern Europe ( particularly in the western part ) and North Africa
- Moehringia pichleri Huter: It is an endemic of the Rhodope Mountains in southern Bulgaria
- Butterwort - Sandwort ( Moehringia sedoides ( Pers.) Loisel. ): It is an endemic of the Maritime Alps (France and Italy)
- Moehringia stellarioides Coss. It occurs in Algeria
- Moehringia tommasinii Marches. It is an endemic of Istria
- Three Annoying Sandwort ( Moehringia trinervia (L.) Clairv. )
- Shaggy Sandwort ( Moehringia villosa ( Wulfen ) Fenzl ): It is an endemic of Slovenia.
In North America, only one other species is endemic:
