Moen (island)

Moen, also called Weno, is the largest island of Chuuk, a member state of the Federated States of Micronesia. It lies in the east of the lagoon of Truk Atoll ( Chuuk Islands) and belongs to the group of Nomoneas Islands.

Moen is of triangular shape, lushly vegetated and hilly throughout. The highest point of the island is Mount Teroken (364 m) in the southwest.

Almost all the coastal regions of Moen are populated. In the north- west of the island is the biggest open place Weno, Chuuk capital of the state, on the southwestern tip is the place Neiwe, where is located the Inter-Continental Hotel. In between lies on the west coast of the place Mwan, the seat of the (municipality ) Moen.

Immediately off the northwest coast is the international Chuuk airport.
