Mogens Klitgaard

Mogens Klitgaard ( born August 23, 1906 in Copenhagen, † December 23, 1945 in Aarhus ) was a Danish writer. Along side Knud Sønderby as the main representative of the social realism - Objectivity narrative of his country. After several years of traveling and anti-fascist resistance work, he became a victim of tuberculosis at 39.

Life and work

Klitgaard grows up in an orphanage, because both parents have died. He gets a job as a gardener in Rødvig and attended evening classes about literature. But in 1922 he broke with the " bourgeois " life and into the next 10 years, a vagabond life that leads him through half of Europe, from Stockholm to Marseilles. He holds, among other things as a peddler, dishwasher, waiter, farm workers, cigarette smugglers and private water. These experiences are reflected especially in his second novel Gud Mildner luften for de klippede får. A rude awakening in 1933 prepared by the onset of tuberculosis Klitgaard. He goes to the sanatorium Boserup, where he can also use the extensive library. The first publications Klitgaards erscheinem in January 1933 the two articles Angaaende skriftsproget and Kritisk ugerevy. In the 1940s, he belongs to the board of the Association of Author. As he faces arrest in 1943 for his anti- fascist activities, he fled to Sweden. 1945 hardly returned, he succumbs to his lung disease.
