Mogens Pedersøn

Mogens Pederson ( Mogens Pedersen, Magno Pedreo ) (* 1585 in Copenhagen, † 1623 ibid ) was a Danish composer.

Life and work

Mogens Pederson was a pupil of Melchior Borchgrevinck, the later royal Kapellmeister, with whom he a study trip to Venice undertook in 1599 to Giovanni Gabrieli. In 1603 he became a member of the Chapel Royal. From 1605 to 1609 he continued his studies with Gabrieli continued in Venice. After that he worked on as a member of the Chapel Royal in Copenhagen. 1611 he undertook with Jacob Ørn and Hans Brach rye a trip to England. One year after appointment as Kapellmeister Borchgrevincks Pederson in 1619 royal Vice-Kapellmeister.

During his second stay, the Venice collection Madrigali a cinque voci appeared. Primo Libro di Magno ... Petreo Dano, Musico. At a second madrigal collection Perdersøn apparently worked during his trip to England. His main work was published in 1620 in Copenhagen, the Pratum Spirituale, which contains 21 five-part hymns and a fair three motets and a number of Responsorien.
