Mogons

Mogon, also Mogons, is a Celtic god who is identified by the interpretatio romana with Apollo. Mogon is interpreted as a healing and sun god.

Sites and etymology

After Mogon the Roman fort Mogontiacum (Mainz, Roman province of Germania superior) to have his name. In an inscription from Metz ( Divodurum, Roman Gallia Belgica ) a dea Mogontina is called. Mogons, also Mogounos, Celtiberian Maganus, means " the mighty one " or "the Great".
