Mogul skiing

A moguls is a uniformly along the entire length uneven slopes. The bumps range from small hills (from about 30 centimeters ) up to bumps in the height of one meter and more.

A moguls may have occurred naturally or artificially created. In many ski resorts certain pistes or individual relationships are not at all or only very rarely prepared ( leveled ) to the evolution of natural moguls allow. Such routes are generally marked as ski routes or black ski slopes. Furthermore, natural moguls are often formed in the more frequented areas left and right of marked ski runs, for example, by the incoherence of deep snow. The man made moguls are used primarily in the freestyle competition sport.

Technique of moguls driving

The skiing in moguls or similar rolling terrain requires the technique of wedeln with a high degree of anticipatory driving style and sense of rhythm. Skiers ski closely parallel and swings around near the fall line to the hump over the hump hump slopes or the hilltops. It is important to control the car's speed to keep the clock and far ahead to look for a trail through the hump. The upper body remains calm in a central position, while the legs are actively flexed and extended in order to preserve always snow contact with the skis. So that the legs have the necessary freedom of movement, you should already pre- launched in more than knee on a flat track.

The mogul skiing is learned most easily by rapid swings in only flat, then steep terrain, by swinging with changing radii of curvature, by swinging by a predetermined clock and by practicing an anticipatory style of driving. The use of sticks and the use of the poles is essential when mogul skiing. The active leg movement, the very short turns and controlling the skis require considerable force, so mastering the moguls is much higher requirements on the driver's fitness.

Because of the close parallel driving technique are for the moguls narrow, less waisted ski beneficial. This provides some contrast to the increasingly wide carving skis in recent years and there are some manufacturers but also specially developed for the moguls ski models (English: Mogul Ski), which are mainly used in competition. However, they are very difficult to obtain commercially.
