Mohamed Akid

Mohammed Ali Akid ( born July 5, 1949 in Sfax, † 12 April 1979 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), was a Tunisian football player.

The center forward was during his career with the club CS Sfax under contract by which he has won several Tunisian championships. For the Tunisian national team, he scored 14 goals. He also took part in the Football World Cup 1978 in Argentina, where he was eliminated, however, with his team in the first round.

After his early death in a street in Tunis was named in his honor. The circumstances of his death are disputed. After 1979 was first officially announced that Akid died during a training session by a lightning strike, 2012, two cartridges were found at autopsy of his body.
