Mohammed Said Ramadan al - Buti (Arabic: محمد سعيد رمضان البوطي, Muḥammad Sa ʿ DMG īd Ramadan al - Buti, Franco Mohamed Saïd Ramadan al Bouti, born 1929 in Jilka, Turkey, † March 21, 2013 in Damascus ) is a Syrian religious scholar was Turkish - Kurdish origin.

He was one of the most influential Islamic jurists. He was Dean of the Faculty of Religion at the Faculty of Islamic Law at the University of Damascus, Syria.

In some of his works he criticized the Salafi movement.

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter A Common Word between Us and You (English A Common Word Between Us and You), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (English " Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... " ) submitted (13 October 2007).

Mohammed Said Ramadan al - Buti died on March 21, 2013 in Damascus, along with 41 other people, by a suicide bomber.
