Mohammad Reza Aref

Mohammad Reza Aref (* 1951 in Yazd ) is an Iranian politician and scientist at the Sharif University of Technology in Tehran.

Life

After completing his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering at the University of Tehran, Aref studied from 1975 to 1980 at Stanford University and received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering. His dissertation dealt with the information theory of networks that have been known in the terminology as Aref Networks scientifically. Aref was a member of the faculty of the University of Isfahan from 1994 to 1997 he was Chancellor of the University of Tehran. From 1997 to 2000, Aref Minister of Communication and Technology, 2001-2005 First Vice President of Iran under President Mohammad Khatami. As one of eight candidates Aref was approved by the Guardian Council for the presidential election in Iran in 2013 on 21 May 2013. Aref declared on June 11, 2013, that he was withdrawing his candidacy.
