Mohammad Reza Rahimi

Mohammad Reza Rahimi ( born January 11, 1949 in Qorveh ) is an Iranian politician and since 2009 the First Vice President of Iran.

Life

Rahimi was 1949 (1327 according to the Islamic calendar ) in the Iranian Qorveh ( Kordestān ) born. He has been married since 1970 and has two children. He earned a degree at the Azad University in Tehran. 1980 Rahimi was elected as a member of the Islamic Republican Party in the Iranian parliament, where he belonged, among others, the Committee on Foreign Policy. In August 1993 he was appointed by then-President Ali Rafsanjani governor of the province of Kurdistan. Rahimi occupied this office until August 1997, when Mohammad Khatami, who was elected in the presidential election in 1997 to Rafsanjani's successor, appointed new governors.
