Mohammad-Reza Shajarian

Mohammad -Reza Schadscharian, Mohammad- Reza Shajarian also (Persian محمد رضا شجريان born September 23, 1940 in Mashhad, Iran) is a singer of traditional Persian music and composer. He is praised as the greatest living representative of traditional Persian music.

Life

Even as a child he got Quran recitation lessons from his father, who dominated the art. At the age of twelve he was already known as Koranrezitator. At twelve he began learning the radif, a collection of traditional melodic figures that form the basis of classical Iranian music. He also served as a student of Abdollah Davami, Ahmad Ebadi and only Ali Borumand.

His first official recording in the National Radio of Iran he made at age 26 and became known for his particular style of singing soon in Iran. In addition to his career as a singer, he took a teaching position at the University of Tehran.

He had several joint performances with great artists such as Grandmaster Ahmad Ebadi and Majd. Paywar, Dawami and Broomand, known Iranian teacher, taught him in singing and santur. He gave numerous concerts in Iran, Asia, Europe and America and was one of the greatest ambassadors of Iranian classical music culture.

Schadscharian has the protests after the Iranian presidential elections in 2009 and actively supported the broadcasting of the Islamic Republic of Iran forbidden to send his music. He explained that the text of his famous song in Iran, Ey Saraye Omid (Iran, land of hope ) have nothing to do with the current situation in his home country. In the published in September 2009 Language Song of Fire Schadscharian calls for a peaceful dispute over the political development of Iran.
