Mohelnice (Plzeň-South District)

Mohelnice ( German Mohelnitz ) is a town with 70 inhabitants in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers south-east of Nepomuk on the river Víska and belongs to Okres Plzeň -jih. The land area is 294 hectares.

Geography

The place is located in 430 meters. M. on a hillside on the left bank of the Víska which is dammed fishpond on the southeastern edge of the village in Mohelnický. South of Mohelnice leads the European route 49/Staatsstraße 20 of Nepomuk to Blatná over.

Neighboring towns are Tojice and Čmelíny in the north, Podhůří to the southeast, and Bezděkovec Želvice in the south and Mileč and Třebčice in the West.

History

The first mention of Mohelnice dates from the 1552. The place belonged to the basic rule Vrčeň and got to the Cistercian Order in Nepomuk later. After the dissolution of the monastery Mohelnitz belonged to the possession of the rule Zelena Hora. The Berni rula has nine farmers and three gardeners for Mohelnice. In the 18th century a mill, which was apparently not operated very successfully was because over the miller was reported, " he was poor and not working ." 1920 lived 200 people in Mohelnice.
