Mohini

Mohini (Sanskrit मोहिनी Mohini ) is a form of the Indian god Vishnu in which this appears as a beautiful woman.

In the myth of the ocean of milk, is derived from the nectar of immortality ( Amrita ), the gods ( devas ) and demons fighting ( asura ) against each other. Vishnu will appear as Mohini to distract the asuras. The gods can therefore escape with the nectar.

The Indian God Shiva and Mohini fall in love and witness Ayyappan ( Shasta, Hariharaputra ). In another version of the myth Aiyanar is born. Ayyappan is worshiped in Kerala at Sabarimala Temple and Aiyanar is worshiped in Tamil Nadu as Gramadevata ( village deity ) who is supposed to protect from harm.

After Mohini, the Indian classical dance form of Mohiniattam is named. This refers to the myth of the milk ocean and the myth in which Vishnu as Mohini lists a dance that Muktanrtya is called, ' dance for the Liberated ' to protect Shiva the demon Bhasma.
