Mohun Bagan Athletic Club ( Mohun Bagan AC) ( Bengali: মোহনবাগান অ্যাথলেটিক ক্লাব ) is an Indian football club in Kolkata, West Bengal. The big city rival is the East Bengal Club. Your derbies are as Boro match called.

History

Mohun Bagan is one of the oldest football clubs in Asia. It was founded on August 15, 1889 and 1989 he received the title of National Club of India, which the team was honored in 1911, which then defeated the British in the IFA Shield. This event has a great importance for the club, since this rebellion was expressed against the British colonial rule.

The first president of this club was Bhupendra Nath Bose, who had been president of the Indian National Congress at the same time.

On 27 May 2008 Mohun Bagan played against the German football giants FC Bayern Munich on the occasion of his trip to Asia. It was the last game for the goalkeeper Oliver Kahn and the coach Ottmar Hitzfeld. Mohun Bagan lost with 0:3.

After a 4th place in the 2007/ 08 season the club finished the past season 2008/ 09 on the second place. The club played in the Indian I-League and was banned on December 29, 2012 due to persistent Fanausschreitungen 2015 from the I-League. What happens next with the club was open at that time.
