Moï Sale ( * 1904 in Lebedewo, Belarus, † 1995 in Safed, Israel) Moshe Raviv later, (born Moses Vorobeichic in German-speaking M. Vorobeichich ) was a photographer and painter.
Life
Moses Vorobeichic first studied painting in Vilnius, moved in 1927 to the Bauhaus in Dessau, where he uA studied with Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky. There he sat down first confrontation with photography. Later he went to the Ecole de photo et du cinéma in Paris. His first major project was a study of Vilnius, which he in an exhibition at the Zionist Congress in 1929 was in the form of photo collages in Zurich and with the support of Emil Schaeffer, editor of the exhibition book series, and a foreword by Zalman Shneur 1931 as Book published. The book was published in six bilingual versions (Hebrew - Yiddish, Hebrew - English, Hebrew - German, German - jidd., English - German ) with a total circulation of 12,500 copies. Vorobeytshik demonstrated in a modern form, the life of the Orthodox Jews of his hometown at the time of Passover 1929.
He achieved fame as Moï comparison with the book about Paris (also 1931). Paris was published in an edition of 1,000 copies and is now considered a seminal work of photography. A new edition of the work ( return to 1000 copies) was held in 2004.
Also in 1931 he wrote his draft of Ci - contre. The draft was due to the assumption of power by the National Socialists have a publisher and remained unpublished until 100 to Moï verse birthday. In 2004, on the one hand, the publication of the book and an exhibition of paintings in Ci - contre through the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich took place.
1934 immigrated to Palestine Vorobeichic. Initially, he continued working as a photographer and completed documentation and advertising jobs. Later he turned to religious painting.
Vorobeichic one of the founders of the artists' colony of Safed, in which he ( to be confused with the Israeli Ambassador to the UK not ) worked since 1950 as Moshe Raviv. In 1995 Vorobeichic died there.
