The moidore is a Portuguese gold coin that was minted 1640-1732.

The Moidore was partially used in Western Europe, the West Indies and also in Barbados as currency. The name is derived from the Portuguese moidore moeda de ouro, which translates as "money of gold " or " gold coin " means.
