Moislains

Moislains ( Picard: Molin ) is a commune with 1246 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) by the Somme in the Picardie region of northern France. The municipality belongs to the canton Peronne and is part of the Communauté de communes de la Haute Somme.

Geography

The municipality is located on the Canal du Nord and the creek Tortille and is touched by the department streets D43, D184 and D149.

Monuments and Landmarks

  • The Church of St- Pierre was rebuilt from 1928 to 1932 by the architect Louis Faille. It has a glass art by Gérard Ansart.
  • Military Cemetery ( Nécropole national ) for the fallen soldiers of the 123rd and the 124th Infantry Brigade. The monument carries the inscription: " La Charente à ses enfants morts pour la France le 28 août 1914. "

History

The community was awarded the Croix de guerre 1914-1918.
