Mokhtar Dahari

Mokhtar Dahari ( born November 13, 1953 in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, † July 11, 1991 in Subang Jaya ) was a Malaysian football player.

His professional career began in 1972 at the Malaysian first division club Selangor FA, for whom he played for 15 years. He won with 10 times the Selangor Malaysia Cup, the biggest tournament in the country and he shot during this time 177 goals for the club. He finished his career in May 1986, after he was able to win Malaysia Cup for the tenth time with Selangor, but returned in January 1987 for one season back to Selangor.

1972, with only 19 years, he played his first international match against the selection of Sri Lanka. He played until the year 1985 a total of 167 games for the Malaysian national football team, where he could make 125 times. He is considered the best Malaysian footballer of all time and finished in the choice of Asia's Player of the Century to 30th place.

Mokhtar died at the age of 37 years from muscular dystrophy.
