Mokoma

Mokoma is a Finnish thrash metal band from Lappeenranta.

Band History

Mokoma was originally founded in 1996 by Marko Annala as a solo project, but soon expanded by a full cast. Initially, the sound of their songs based on more traditional rock and grunge with only minor influences from the metal sector, which earned them a recording contract with EMI. The first two albums and Valu Mokoman 120 päivää but sold poorly. When she then the label relation to the proposal made ​​to play Finnish-speaking thrash metal instead of rock music, they immediately canceled the contract.

Since they found no suitable replacement label, founded the band members in 2003 Sakara Records ( now represents the bands Diablo, Stam1na and Rytmihäiriö ). In the same year they released their third album Kurimus, is considered the first Thrash Metal album in Finnish. Initially it sold only 200 times, but with the help of the freely distributed MP3 Single Takatalvi and word of mouth, the band gave in Metal - region has a higher level of awareness, to which the sales of the album increased to several thousand pieces. Numerous tours took the band soon known. While they were playing in front of about a hundred people in April 2003 at the release party of Kurimus in a small rock bar, when the tour ends half a year was sold out later in November the concert at Tavastia.

In May 2004, released their next album Tämän maailman ruhtinaan hovi. It debuted at number two on the Finnish album charts and sold nearly 10,000 times. It was at Nosturi in Helsinki, recorded in Teatria in Oulu and Seinäjoki Rytmikorjaamo in a DVD that was released in May 2007. Also in May 2007 ended the band's own label Sakara Records partnered with the ZYX Music subsidiary Golden Gore Records, which released on June 8, 2007 as the first album Kuoleman Laulukunnaat in Germany.

The recordings for the next album began in August 2007. Luihin yes ytimiin appeared on 28 November 2007, and rose again equal to number one on the Finnish album charts.
