Mokopa

Mokopa is an anti-tank missile of the company Denel. The system is also referred to ZT -6 Mokopa.

In Mokopa is a modular weapon system which can use different sensors and warheads. The rocket of helicopters, aircraft, ships, vehicles and stationary positions can be started.

Currently, Denel two target detection sensors available:

Once can be marked with a laser from the boot device or other location from a target. The homing sensor then absorbs the laser beam and directs the missile to the target. It can be completed the first part of the path also without the marking point for the sensor is visible if a corresponding data network ( speech) the necessary target information is transmitted from the marking device to the boot device. The sensor is called a semi- active laser ( SAL).

Can detect the heat signature of a target and guide the missile there an infrared sensor as the second.

As such warheads are high penetration depth (for ship targets), fragmentation and of course with armor-piercing effect available.

The Mokopa rocket is cylindrical. In height of the front suspension arms four small triangular control surfaces are mounted, the outwardly directed tips are flattened. At the rear of the weapon are also four control surfaces, but they are larger and divided into two parts. The tip is shaped differently depending on the sensor system. Tapered and provided with a round final at the SAL version and only with a round finish for the infrared version.

The Rooivalk attack helicopters can launch up to 16 Mokopa missiles.
