Mokranje

Mokranje (Cyrillic: Мокрање ) is a village in the Opština Negotin in Bor district in the east of Serbia.

History and name

Mokranje is a village which has arisen from the villages Visoka, Barbasa, Rušanja, Sokolovica and Romanje in the 16th century. Mokranje owes its name to the moist soil of this area ( serb. Mokro, dt wet). The village was renamed in the 19th century in Milanovo, by Miloš Obrenović. After the end of his reign, the original name was adopted again.
