Mokuso

As Mokuso (Japanese黙 想" calm thinking " ) is referred to in the Japanese Budo disciplines before meditation and after training in the tradition of zazen. Here, the trainees are to solve the everyday life and prepare mentally for the training. It is used in Aikido, Judo, karate and other martial arts.

After announcing Sensei training beginning or end, pupils and masters put on opposite. Depending on the Budo disciplines sets you up in the appropriate meditation posture, usually seiza until the sensei, then the students. The master assigns the prompt " Mokuso " at the beginning of meditation. Depending on the prevailing etiquette, it is customary to close their eyes while all or only half and knock down the view, or to shape the hands in a mudra. It is controlled breathing with short inhalation through the nose, also short, breath holding, and finally a very slow exhale through the mouth; such a cycle lasts about 15 seconds.
