Molde Cathedral

The Cathedral of Molde ( Molde norw Domkirke ) in the Norwegian Molde is the Evangelical Lutheran Church Bishop of the Diocese of Møre, located in the province of Møre og Romsdal.

The constructed by Finn Bryn church was completed in 1948 after a one advertised architectural competition in 1957. As a building material was concrete. In 1983, she was charged with the creation of the Diocese of Møre the cathedral. It is the fourth church on this site. All previous are burned.

The architect refers to the Gothic, but it is a functionalist, modern church. Next to her is a 50 meter high freestanding bell tower with a pyramidal roof. There is a carillon of 26 bells in it. The interior is richly decorated and has stained glass by Oddmund Kristiansen. The Rose Window was designed by the architect of the cathedral. The ceiling was painted by Sverre Lura and Roy Augustin. A ship of 1661 suspended from the ceiling and still is probably from the early Church. The altar of Stinius Frederiksen was already in the previous church. The painting " Woman at the Tomb " (1887 ) comes from Axel Ender. Also, the altar cross from 1661 was in the old church. The organ was installed in 1999 by Rieger. Inside, the 65 m long and 25 m wide church are about 900 seats.
