Moldova national rugby union team

The Moldavian rugby union team represents Moldova in the sport of Rugby Union. It belongs to the third class strength ( third tier ). In 1993, the first time a Moldovan national rugby team in an international game. Previously, the team played as part of the Soviet Union and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The team plays in Division 1B of the European Nations Cup. So far, the Moldovans could not qualify for a world championship itself.

History

1936 Rugby Union Association of the Soviet Union was founded. Until 1991, the Moldovan team was part of this association. On October 10, 1993 the Moldovan national team played the first official match in its history against Lithuania, which was obtained with 22:6.

The World Cup in France missed the team. In the second round, the team finished second in Group B second place behind Germany and thus came on. In the third qualifying round Moldova lost next three victories against Spain, was second in Group A and retired.
