Moldoveanu Peak

Overlooking the Moldoveanumassiv from east

The Moldoveanu is located in Fagaras Mountains part of the Transylvanian Alps west of Braşov and about 2,544 m the highest mountain in Romania.

As this area is touristy but little developed, which is characteristic of the Transylvanian Alps flora and fauna could gain hold in its original form. Nevertheless, the mountain is currently an endangered natural area, as do many local climbers and foreign backpackers little thought to the environment.

The mountain itself is practically unattractive for professional and extreme mountain climber, since it is suitable because of its low height and leisurely rise more for hiking than for demanding ascents.
