Molenbeek-Ter Erpenbeek

The Molenbeek- Ter Erpenbeek (popularly known as Molenbeek ) is a river in the Belgian province of East Flanders in the Denderstreek. The stream has a length of about 25 km. The source of the Molenbeek is in Godveerdegem and the mouth in Hofstade in the Dender. Not to be confused with the Molenbeek, which also flows through Erpe -Mere ( and Herzele ).
Catchment area
The catchment area of the Molenbeek is located in the province of East Flanders and extends into the communities Zottegem ( Godveerdegem, Erwetegem, Grotenberge ), Herzele ( Herzele, Sint- Lievens- Esse, Woubrechtegem, Ressegem ) Haaltert ( Heldergem, Kerksken, Haaltert ) Erpe -Mere ( Aaigem, Mere, Erpe ) en Aalst ( Aalst, Hofstade ).
The Molenbeek is a part of the catchment area Molenbeek Erpe- Mere. The catchment area Molenbeek Erpe -Mere is a part of the catchment area Dender. The catchment area of the Molenbeek has an area of about 5474th The Molenbeek opens in Hofstade in the Dender.
From the source to the mouth Godveerdegem Hofstade the Molenbeek has the following tributaries: Plankebeek, Meilegembeek, De Burg, 's Heerendijkbeek, Grep, Holbeek, Steenbeek and Zijpbeek.
Mills and water tower
- Due to the geographical situation, there are eight water mills in Erpe -Mere to the Molenbeek, six of them are also legally protected ( historical monument). An unprotected mill was converted into a house.
- On the Koudenberg, one of the highest hills of the community, there is also a windmill. It was in 2006 again placed on its base, after it was restored in 2004 by a studio in Roeselare. The Kruiskoutermolen was completely restored in 2006 and is operational. It can be visited by appointment with the tourist service. The mill is a listed building.
