Molly Bee

Molly Bee ( born August 18, 1939 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; † February 7, 2009 in Oceanside, California; actual name Mollie Gene Beach Board) was an American country music singer.

With ten years she sang at a concert in Tucson, Arizona before the country singer Rex Allen and convinced him so much that she was allowed to perform on his radio show. A little later, her family moved to Los Angeles, where she was part of Country telecast KXLA Hometown Jamboree. For three years she performed regularly also in the children's program Pinky Lee Show on.

In 1952 she received at the age of 13 years, her first recording contract with Capitol Records and released their debut single, Tennessee Tango. In the same year their first hit and her most famous single I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus appeared. It was followed by numerous other successes, and it belonged to the television show by Tennessee Ernie Ford, with whom she had recorded a duet and played together in a movie. In the late 50's Molly Bee had their most successful period.

The late 1950s, early 1960s she starred in theater musicals and in several movies and had his own shows in Las Vegas. Their single - Success was after, however, and in 1967 they had their last success with the album Swingin 'Country in the country charts. In the late 1960s she had to struggle with drug problems. In the 1970s and early 1980s, she toured again and made ​​further recordings. In 1986 she settled in Oceanside down and opened his own restaurant with a nightclub, where she also appeared himself.

Molly Bee was married five times, including ten years the country singer Ira Allen, and has one son and two daughters. On February 7, 2009, she died after a stroke at the age of 69 years.
