Molteni

Molteni was from 1958 to 1976 an Italian professional cycling team.

History

First team leader was 1958, Renato Molteni. It was founded by Pietro Molteni, whose son, the former professional cyclist Ambrogio Molteni was also involved in management. After the former Italian road champion Giorgio Albani ended his active career in 1959 at Molteni, he returned two years later as sports director. As Eddy Merckx joined the team in late 1970, he brought his sporting director Guillaume Driessens.

Driver

Among the most famous riders of the team included Rudi Altig, Peter Post, Franco Balmamion, Michele Dancelli, Gianni Motta, Marino Basso, Eddy Merckx, Herman van Springel, Roger Swerts and Joseph Bruyère.

Achievements

The team won a total of 663 bicycle race, many of them by Eddy Merckx, Gianni Motta and Marino Basso.
