Momir Bulatović

Momir Bulatović ( born September 21, 1956 in Belgrade ) is a former Montenegrin politician, party leader of the League of Communists of Montenegro ( 1989-1990) and the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro ( 1990-1997), President of the Republic of Montenegro ( 1990-1998 ) and Prime Minister the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia ( 1998-2000).

Life

Bulatović studied economics at the University Titograd, where he worked as an assistant in political economy. He joined in 1974 the League of Communists of Yugoslavia in.

Following the resignation of the communist leadership after mass protests in January 1989 Momir Bulatović was elected party chairman of the League of Communists of Montenegro. Momir Bulatović was a close ally of former Serbian President Slobodan Milošević and proponents of a close union with Serbia. In the first multi-party elections in 1990, Momir Bulatović was elected President of Montenegro.

On 11 July 1997, Momir Bulatović by the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Socialists, the successor party to the Montenegrin communists deposed as party leader. Unlike his successor as leader of the Democratic Party of Socialists, Milo Djukanovic, Bulatović held the Serbian President Milošević loyalty. Before the presidential elections in 1997 Bulatović founded the Socialist People's Party (SNP ), whose leader he became. In the presidential elections on 5 and October 21, 1997 Bulatović just going down to his rival Milo Djukanovic.

His mentor Slobodan Milošević appointed him on 21 May 1998 to the Prime Minister of the Yugoslav federal government. After the fall of Milošević Bulatović lost in October 2000 from his position as Prime Minister of Yugoslavia. In 2001, it displaced Predrag Bulatović by the Office of the Chairman of the Socialist People's Party. The trailer Momir Bulatovićs then founded under the name of People's Socialist Party ( NSS) own party, whose honorary president Momir Bulatović was. Nevertheless, Momir Bulatović withdrew from politics and has been dedicated to his scientific work. He has published several books about his version of events in Yugoslavia and Montenegro nineties.
