The man in red skirt (AKA Mon oncle Benjamin, DDR Title: My Uncle Benjamin ) is a French film directed by Édouard Molinaro from 1969, the My Uncle Benjamin by Claude Tillier was created on motives of the novel.

Content

France in the 17th century. Country Doctor Benjamin loves innkeeper's daughter Manette, whose father wants to marry off his daughter for profit. Manette is even ready to be abducted by Benjamin - but only with subsequent marriage certificate. Benjamin fears the marriage. But Manette is in Hector de Pont- Cassé an ally. Pont- Cassé must protect them from the vengeance of the Marquis de Cambyse, a villainous nobleman, the Benjamin played a prank Benjamin. But Pont- Cassés influence preserved Benjamin not before the departure into exile. At the end Manette accompanied her Benjamin - even without marriage - into exile.

In the novel by Claude Tillier is - even before the senses merry landlady Manette - the doctor's daughter Arabelle female protagonist. The site offered the role of Arabelle appeared Claude Jade as too pale. So Molinaro changed the script and Claude Jade played the Manette.
