Monas Hieroglyphica

The Monas Hieroglyphica (also called " The Hieroglyphic Monad " or " Monas glyph " ) is a mystical treatise of John Dee, which was published in Latin in 1564 in Antwerp. In this paper, an eponymous symbol is explained in detail. In 24 theorems he explains the deeper meaning of this symbol, symbolized in the Fludd a cosmic unit mystical aspects of astrology, astronomy and alchemy looks. Fludd explains how in the symbolic representation of the traditional seven planets and the four elements can be seen (cf. Theorem X and XII). In the 17th century the symbol will find another use in the Rosicrucian movement. 1616 emerged the Monas Hieroglyphica again in a Rosicrucian signature, the Alchemical Wedding at. This brought Dee reputed to have been sympathizers and supporters of the Reformation and geheimbündlerisch organized Rosicrucian.
