Moncton Golden Flames

The Moncton Golden Flames were a Canadian ice hockey franchise in the American Hockey League from Moncton, New Brunswick. The venue for the Flames was the Moncton Coliseum.

History

After the 1983/84 season, the Moncton Alpines were bought up by the Calgary Flames and renamed in Moncton Golden Flames. The team was from 1984 to 1987 a total of three years existent in the American Hockey League as a farm team of the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins. The biggest success for the Flames was reaching the second round playoff game in 1985/ 86 in which they lost to the Adirondack Red Wings with 1:4 in the best- of-seven series. In the season 1984/85 could not qualify for the playoffs you look. During the season 1986/87 after all, still the first playoff round was reached in which you again the Adirondack Red Wings defeated ( 2:4 in the best- of-seven series).

The Moncton Golden Flames were dissolved in 1987 and replaced by the Moncton Hawks, the farm team of the Winnipeg Jets.
